Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski’s Executive Order 06-02 entitled “Sustainability for the 21st Century” created the Governor's Sustainability Awards Program to promote and advance the inclusion of sustainable practices in government and the private sector. Sustainable practices are broadly defined as those that strive to optimize an organization's financial, environmental and social performance.
The awards are given to private, public, and non-profit organizations who: (a) show a commitment to sustainability that goes beyond compliance with regulatory requirements
(b) are innovators in their fields, and
(c) show that becoming more sustainable is not in conflict with achieving the organization's core mission (whatever that may be).
The awards are hosted by the Oregon Sustainability Board and Business Oregon. The Awards Ceremony will take place during lunch on day two of the Conference (April 22nd).
